Set 9

Festival of Angla

The Festival of Angla celebrates the island city's founding family, the Cherupops. As the island population is quite small, most inhabitants can trace their lineage back to one Cherupop or another. The festival is a major event. Children march in parades playing patriotic songs, feasts are prepared, and speeches given. Trading ships from across the inlet and fisherman from the other isles crowd the ports to take part in the celebration. Though opinions on the Cherupop family vary, most agree that the city of Angla is the most prosperous of all the towns in the Western Isles.

Trivi Tree

Trivi is the name given to an ancient tree that looks down on Topi Village from a ledge up on the mountainside. The tree has become part of the celebrations and rituals of various religious and secular groups locally and across the Swelkar Valley. The All-Seeing claim that on starry nights the tree can point the way to the future while the devotees of the God of Honest Undertakings use the tree as a symbol of determination and truth.

Tyler Travis

Tyler lives in central Masconia where he spends most of his time working. He works slowly and deliberately on simple tasks: sweeping the hallways and stairwells of his apartment block, raking the leaves, washing the windows. His neighbors tell him to “relax” and “take a break,” but he just looks at them blankly and continues his task. Sometimes, in the evenings, he whistles. His tunes are soothing and sweet and bring good dreams to those that hear them.

Tip Top Trees

A forest of Tip Top Trees grows on the Western end of the island of Levia. These unique trees are home to a large number of birds and other creatures, most of which can only be found on Levia. This forest is unusually noisy from the activity of its many inhabitants. Birds of many colors flap and squawk, small furry creatures chatter in the branches and primates jabber amongst themselves. One reason that the trees are so popular is that they produce sweet delicious sap that flows abundantly when the winds are in from the West.

Astra of the Crescent Circle

Astra is an acolyte for the God of Night and a member of the Crescent Circle, a group of devotees who travel throughout Jinivar to bring comfort to those who struggle in the night and to share the tales of the moon. Astra is assigned to the island of Big Zies where she has settled in a grove of shimmery silver-bark trees that reflect the light of the moon, appearing to glow in the dark. She has yet to connect with the locals. They do not treat her poorly, but neither have they welcomed her into the fold.

Yartle Tree

Yartle trees grow on the higher elevations of the Skytar Mountains. The trees look ordinary enough—not particularly tall, with leaves that are not particularly memorable—but the magic of the Yartle tree is in its roots. Yartle roots form in such a way as to create unique underground dens that have been used as homes, hideouts, and storage for treasures and secrets. Finding a Yartle tree can be a challenge, but finding the entrance to the root den is even more so.

Blaskie Rabbits

The rabbits of Blaskie Woods have a long and noble history as the favored pet of Masconian Empress Tati I. This has helped protect the species against threats of overhunting from hungry Masconians. The rabbits are a common sight in Blaskie Woods and easily distinguished by their unusually tall, lean stature and their silky fur.

Gib of the Crescent Circle

Gib is an acolyte for the God of Night and a member of the Crescent Circle, a group of devotees who travel throughout Jinivar to bring comfort to those who struggle in the night and to share the tales of the moon. Gib is assigned to Swelkar Valley where he is overwhelmed by the fervor with which the locals celebrate their gods. His Twilight Tales sessions are mobbed and he has a long waitlist of those requesting he visit them for night counseling. Gib has sent a message to the First Temple of the Night in the Plackadill Mountains requesting reinforcements, but so far has not heard back.
