Revix Maston
Revix works alongside his father on their small ship bringing goods back and forth across Zies Sea. Over the years they have developed a profitable route with customers waiting for them at multiple small ports. Revix loves checking in at each port, exchanging goods, news, and gossip. His favorite port is to the south where a romance has been blooming. He hasn't had the nerve yet to ask his beloved for her hand in marriage, but he thinks about it constantly as he sails back and forth.
Tamroy Albierterson
Like many in Nakla City, Tamroy's family has a cottage along the shore of Zies Sea where they head for the holidays. Tamroy always tries to avoid the preparations for the annual community fish-fry and instead wanders along the shore looking for abandoned Zies Blue Duck nests. Sometimes the nests are big enough that he can—very carefully—climb inside. This year he's considering letting his younger cousins tag along, though this increases the risk of being caught and put to work.
Zies Blue Duck (common)

Sounds: "Weee-wu" and "wee-wu-wu-ah"
Lifespan: 10-12 years
Zies Blue Ducks build distinctive nests along the shores of the Zies Sea. They use the same nests for their entire lives, adding to them each year. These nests can become veritable mountains of twigs, moss, mud, and found treasures.
Valdonia
Habitat: Big Zies Island
Size: vines; flowers are 4–6" wide
Uses: Valdonia vines are used to create marketable goods that the islanders take to the mainland to sell. The vines are dried and used for weaving baskets, mats, and other home goods. The flowers are strongly scented and used to make perfumes.
Ecology: Valdonia vines are plentiful on Big Zies, but have failed to take root off-island.
