Antia and Bird
Antia lives in the Overgrowth village of Lemoli. Antia is deaf. Growing up, there were few in the village who took the time to try to communicate with her. Things changed to Antia after sharing her lunch with Bird one afternoon in the woods. Now Bird hops along at her side, taping her when someone approaches and supporting her as able. The villagers have taken note of Bird and their curiosity has led to the beginnings of new attempts at communicating with Antia.
Ingrid Lapso
Ingrid emigrated from the Masconian Empire to the Overgrowth as a child. She was old enough to remember her old home and the long, treacherous journey. Her family had traveled with a caravan that shrunk the further south they went. By the time they reached the Overgrowth, they were on their own. They settled in Cava Village, where her parents started a small homestead. Ingrid tried to get used to her new life, but her foreign accent, clothes, and memories left her feeling out of place.
Denio Bole
Denio lives in the village of Cassel at the foot of Overgrowth Mountain. He is a devout follower of the God of Life, known to locals as Garolio, the Green God. Denio has a shrine to Garolio by his house but also regularly hikes up the mountain to care for the many shrines there. His favorite is the oldest, most inaccessible, and hardest to find. Once there, Denio pours water carried up from the base of the mountain into the receiving cup, prays, then, renewed, heads back down the mountain.
Anstarnia
Meet Anstarnia of the Overgrowth. Anstarnia is the oldest of five. Her four sisters live with her in her small cottage and garden that resides in Vinto Village. In her free time, she knits clothing in her garden. The clothes are for her young siblings. If is her responsibility to take care of them but sometimes it is too much. (NP)
Mary
Meet Mary of the Overgrowth. Mary lives with her husband in a tiny cottage, not far from her chaotic best friends, Anstarnia, who always makes her laugh. Mary's husband is restless though and wants to move to the Cratic Desert where Cerapion City is being built. (NP)
Pinnie (common)
Size: Up to 2' tall
Color: Red-violet, infants are pale pink
Diet: Insects and grasses
Sounds: "kak-kak-kee-ee"
Lifespan: Up to 15 years
Pinnies are flightless birds that can be found throughout the Overgrowth. They are quite comfortable around humans and are used to being tossed treats. Their colorful feathers are often collected and used in local crafts.
Elvitz Turtle (common)
Size: Up to 18" tall
Color: Green bodies with multicolored shells
Diet: Insects and plants
Sounds: Hisses when upset
Lifespan: Up to 40 years
Elvitz turtles are common around the lakes and ponds of the Overgrowth. Though they make look docile, they can have a ferocious bite and when threatened will secrete a mildly poisonous protective covering on their shells.
Purple Water Meela
Habitat: lakes, ponds and wetlands in the Overgrowth
Size: 18–24" tall
Uses: Teas made from the roots are used to improve sleep and reduce anxiety.
Ecology: Purple water milas grow plentifully when the setting is right. While blooming, they attract singing salamanders and Elvitz Turtles.
Noted: "Meela" and "Meelo" are common given names in the Overgrowth.
