Inalas

Ursula and Nettles

Ursula works in the accounting office of a shipping company in Cranefish Town. She can remember once being proud and excited to get the job, but now that seems naive. The work is drudgery, the office is always cold, and the pay is never enough.

Perhaps it was the smell of fish that summoned the dog, but Ursula likes to think that Nettles came to save her. Life is better with Nettles sleeping at her feet during the day and walking her home each night.

Cassia Camploi

Cassia lives in the woods outside of Torinan Village, Inalas, with her father, a woodcutter and carpenter, and her mother, a much sought after mushroom farmer. Cassia used to try to make herself useful, but as no one seemed to notice, she started spending more time wandering in the woods, sometimes following the tracks all the way into Torinan. In the village, she borrows books from her friend Marina and purchases sweet slivers of chocolate that she savors on her walk back home.

Neil and Waverly Poppok

Neil, Tisha, and their daughter Waverly live in Cranefish Town. Once a week, starting shortly after Waverly was born, Neil takes her down to the docks to see the boats while Tisha has an afternoon to herself. It’s a long walk, but Waverly looks forward to it each week. She sings and dances circles around her father as they walk. Neil is a quiet man. He remembers their early walks when he could push her in her carriage and is a bit startled by the lively child she has become, though he loves her dearly.

Starla

Meet Starla of Inalas. Starla is a poet. On sunny days she does to the market at Cranefish Town and hands out poems to passersby. Her poetry is tall and majestic like mountains and deep and mysterious like the ocean. After each market day she treats herself to a single bead from the exasperated jewler's stand.

Cranefish Town Tower

This building was built in Cranefish Town during a surge in population caused by turmoil in the neighboring Masconian Empire. It’s still as sturdy as ever, a testament to the construction skills that the refugees brought with them. One of the tower’s most famous residents was the storyteller Nadya. The memorial garden planted in her honor is the site of Cranefish Town’s annual storytelling festival.

Copper Tree

Size: up to 20' tall
Noted: Copper trees are petite delicate trees that are on the brink of extinction. Their leaves are thick and coppery year-round and gleam brightly, making them prized finds for many arts and alchemical practices. The wood is also highly sought after. A small but vocal group of Inalas residents have joined together to protect the remaining trees—by any means necessary.
